Acute back pain / lumbago
f you have sudden pain shooting into your back, are almost unable to turn in your bed but do not feel any numbness or pain radiating into your leg, you are most probably having a lumbago. In most cases, this acute pain is just caused by acute muscle tension or a spinal block.
You may and should take painkillers available prescription-free at your pharmacy. You may also want to use hot or cold wraps (depending on what you tolerate better) or take a hot bath. All these treatment options relax your muscles. If the pain has not subsided after three days, it makes sense to see a doctor.
Pack pain warning signs that tell you to definitely see a doctor: Numbness in your legs, paralysis symptoms, lack of urination and motion control.
If you repeatedly suffer from back pain or neck tensions, you should regularly do exercises for your back.
